In this article, I’m gonna cover the next 4 Names In sha Allah! Let’s read for boosting our Iman & for knowing Allah Almighty.
→ Al-Adl (The Utterly Just)
The One who rectifies and sets matters straight in a fair, impartial, and equitable manner. The One who always acts justly. The One who delivers absolute justice. The One whose wisdom of justice is based upon complete knowledge of past, present, and future.
The root word of Al-Adl has the following meanings:
→ To act justly, fairly
→ To balance, to make equal
→ To make comfortable with what is right
He always delivers absolute justice without any failure because of his complete wisdom. He gives to a human what he deserves. On the day of judgment, he will make decisions on complete justice. Every person will be treated with proper fairness, and he will get according to his deeds. Allah says:
Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom’s weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward. (An-Nisa, 4:40)
Our Duty?
→ Be content
Sometimes Allah takes away something from us. And we feel dishearted at this because we love that thing or are emotionally attached to it. Although a situation may seem unfair to us due to our limited understanding, the Supreme Justice is absolute and unerring in fairness and equality. He always gives or takes away something from you just for sake of your betterment. Allah says:
But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you, and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not. (Al-Baqarah, 2:216)
→ Do Justice
If Allah always does justice with his creation then why don’t you? If Allah makes you a leader of your group or home If Allah makes you a boss of a company or gives you a higher rank over people then always act with justice. Always treat your teammates or employees with equality and take them forward with your success and learning. Don’t humiliate someone in public because if Allah will humiliate you what will you feel? As Allah has covered your sins & mistakes from people that why do you make fun of others’ weaknesses or mistakes in front of people?
→ Ask Al-Adl
Indeed, we’re living in a world in which there exist some negative people too. Sometimes, you will face trials in form of these people. They will make your fun and become a cause of your pain. Don’t worry. Ask Al-Adl to do justice. Ask him to give something better over the patience that you show in dealing with these people.
Al-Lateef (The Subtle One, The Most Gentle)
The One who is most subtle and gracious. The One whose nature is gentle, and affectionate. The One who is kind and merciful to his servants. He does things for you, you will never know. This is the name of Allah to call when asking for help through hardship. Al-Lateef refers to His infinite kindness over his slaves.
The root word of Al-Lateef has the following meanings:
→ to be thin, delicate, graceful
→ To be Kind, gentle, and gracious
→ To treat with kindness, goodness, and affection
Did you not see that Allah has sent down water from the sky, whereby the land becomes green? Surely, Allah is All-Kind, All-Aware. (Quran; 22:63)
Al-Lateef is the One Who handles our affairs in the most beneficial way without us even letting know of it. He’s fully aware of your situation, your deeds, what is in your heart, your thoughts, and your desires!
Example:
The examples of Al-Lateef are all around us. On hot summer days, He makes fruit ripe for us while we’re heedless of it. He causes the teeth of young children to gently swap for permanent teeth without it causing them pain. Can you imagine a dentist removing even one tooth from a young child to make place for new ones? Al-Lateef lets situations flow smoothly from one into another. He gives us water for a purpose. Everything has hidden signs in it for knowing the kindness of Allah. Just ponder over it.
Our Duty?
- Be gentle and kind to others.
For being thankful to Al-Lateef for His gentleness, we should try our best to be a source of gentleness and kindness to others. Make a special effort to look out for the poor, orphans, widows, and all those in need around you and to do something to make their lives easier. As the Prophet said: Show gentleness, for if gentleness is found in anything, it beautifies it and when it is taken out from anything it damages it. [Abu Dawud] - Try to Reflect
An example of Al-Lateef can be found all around you. Radio waves: they can’t be seen, but they bring about much benefit for us. The air, which is not heavy to breathe, the change of the seasons, ripening fruits, the day flowing over into the night, the body and mind of a child developing in perfect milestones, and many more. Take them all as opportunities to actively remember Him and His ultimate kindness upon us. - Make Dua.
Make dua to Al-Lateef, asking Him for His kindness and to aid you to be kind to others. Ask Al-Lateef for His blessings for your loved ones.
Al-Khabir (The All-Aware)
The One who knows the internal qualities and meanings of all things. The One who has perfect and comprehensive knowledge and knows the reality and hidden secrets of everything.
He knows and understands secret requests and unspoken prayers.
Al Khabeer says:
He knows all that lies beyond the reach of human perception as well as all that is visible to man; He is the All-Wise, the All-Aware.’ (Qur’an: 6:73)
Khabeer comes from the root khaa-baa-raa (خبر), which points to two main meanings.
→ To know, to be aware, and to understand the reality or inner nature of something.
→ To test, prove, and try by experience which results in inner knowledge.
This attribute of Allah often comes in Qur’an with the pairing of wisdom (Al-Hakeem), of seeing (Al-Baseer), and subtleness (Al-Lateef), and All-knowing (Al-Aleem).
He has the supreme hold over His servants. He is All-Wise, All-Aware. (Qur’an: 6:18)
Our Duty?
- Know this Fact
Allah Al-Khabeer is the only one who is aware of all you do, say, hide, and want in this world. He knows each and everything that is shown by your actions and what is in your hearts. On the Day of Judgement, He will inform you about all you used to do. Remember this fact each day and let it motivate you to do good deeds. When you get slipped, ask Him for forgiveness in this life so you will be saved from His punishment in the next.
O you who have believed, fear Allah. And let every soul look to what it has put forth for tomorrow — and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Aware of what you do (Qur’an; 59:18)
2. Do Hidden Good deeds
Be motivated to do good deeds not for the eye of the people but for Allah Al-Khabeer! It’s guaranteed that You will enjoy those good deeds that you hide from people because you know you did them for the pleasure of Al-Khabeer. And as He also knows them, these deeds bring you closer to Him and give you internal peace. Allah says:
If you disclose your charitable expenditures, they are good; but if you conceal them and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and He will remove from you some of your misdeeds [thereby]. And Allah, of what you do, is [fully] Aware. (Qur’an; 2:271)
3. Don’t Judge.
We are often quick to judge others. Don’t forget that you don’t have knowledge of the inner reality of others; only Al-Khabeer does. Therefore be careful in judging others not only by criticizing them but also by over-praising them. These tasks are only for Allah, not for us.
Al-Haleem (The Forbearing)
The One who is kind, gracious, and serene in all situations. The One who is calm and deliberate, even with the rebellious and wrongdoers.
Linguistically, the concept of hilm refers to the patience that arises from a sense of deep serenity and lenience. The One who delays the punishment for those who deserve it and then He might forgive them.
The One who gives us the opportunity and situations to learn to be kind, gracious, and patient.
Al-Haleem comes from the root Haa-laam-meem (حلم), which points to three main meanings.
→ To be forbearing, and lenient
→ To be calm and serene.
→ To be not hasty and exhibit moderation.
He will surely cause them to enter an entrance with which they will be pleased, and indeed, Allah is Knowing and Forbearing. (Qur’an; 22:59)
Why does Al-Haleem delay Punishment?
Al-Haleem Himself says: And if Allah were to punish people for what they have earned, He would not leave upon the earth any creature. But He gives them respite for a specified term. [Quran, 35:45]
Al-Haleem can delay a punishment to give you time to return to Him, seek His forgiveness, and change your ways because He is forbearing. He can even cancel your punishment altogether. Isn’t Al-Haleem acting out His love for us in an amazing way?
Our Duty?
- Be forbearing to others
No matter how much your temper is, you can practice developing forbearance. The Prophet salallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to Ashajj ‘Abdu’l-Qays: You have two qualities which Allah loves: forbearance and steadiness. [Muslim]
Many relationships get destroyed because of rage. Hilm is when you’re in a position to show your anger but still hold it back. How? Let Al-Haleem inspire you. Think that I love Allah and his Prophet & wanna adopt qualities that will please them. Show forbearance for the sake of Al-Haleem. - Don’t take advantage
If Al Haleem gives you a chance by not punishing you for your committed sin or didn't expose it to people, then don’t take advantage of this mercy. Think of it as a blessing and turn to him with sincere repentance and determination to commit that again. Don’t take advantage that nothing happened to me, let’s do this again. - Show a good example to a sinful person.
Never be arrogant to a sinning person and try to advise him gently and by showing a good example. Hate sins, not the sinner. According to Prophet (SAW): Every son of Adam commits sin, the best of the sinners are those who repent. Think about your sins and how Allah covers that and directs you on the right path. - Make dua for hilm.
Make dua to Al-Haleem, asking Him for His forbearance for yourself and your loved ones. And ask Him to forgive you, because only He can protect you from His justified anger.
